The team replaced the Detroit Dragons , which had previously been disbanded due to financial problems during the 2008/09 season . In the play-offs, the team failed in the best-of-three series with a sweep at the eventual champions Chi-Town Shooters . In the following season, the team completed only 14 season games and ended the season prematurely after finishing sixth among the seven participants due to financial problems.
