history

The Chicago Blaze were founded in 2008 as a franchise of the newly formed All American Hockey League . The team replaced the Detroit Dragons , which had previously been disbanded due to financial problems during the 2008/09 season . In the play-offs, the team failed in the best-of-three series with a sweep at the eventual champions Chi-Town Shooters . In the following season, the team completed only 14 season games and ended the season prematurely after finishing sixth among the seven participants due to financial problems. The franchise was then dissolved.
