The Indiana Blizzard were an American ice hockey franchise of the All American Hockey League based in Dyer , Indiana . They played in the 1,500-seat Midwest Training & Ice Center .

history

The franchise was founded in 2009 under the name Detroit Hitmen and was based in Fraser , Michigan. The partner team were the Port Huron Icehawks from the International Hockey League . After only two months, however, the Detroit Hitmen ran into financial problems and the franchise was relocated to Muskegon under new ownership. You are continuing a long line of minor league teams in Muskegon, where ten other teams have already been active.

The West Michigan Blizzard worked with the Elmira Jackals from the ECHL and at the junior level with the Philadelphia Thunder from the United Junior Hockey League . You were therefore the only AAHL team with a partner team in the ECHL. The team was relocated to Dyer , Indiana , following the 2009/10 season and renamed Indiana Blizzard.

In December 2010, the franchise ceased gaming operations with immediate effect and was replaced for the remainder of the season by the Chi-Town Shooters , who returned to the AAHL.
