Chief Minister of Montserrat
The Chief Minister of Montserrat was the head of government of the British overseas territory of Montserrat . Pursuant to Article 11 of the 1989 Montserrat Constitution Order , the Governor of Montserrat, representing the British Queen, appointed from among the members of the elected Parliament the Chief Minister who he believed enjoyed the most trust of the MPs. This was mostly the party leader of the party that had the majority in parliament. The island's first chief minister was William Henry Bramble from 1960 to 1970.
On October 13, 2010, the Queen signed The Montserrat Constitution Order 2010 , which is a revised version of the 1989 resolution and replaced it. The new resolution provided, among other things, to rename the post of Chief Minister to Premier. The first premier was Reuben Meade , who was in office at the time of entry into force and who carried the new title from 2011.
