The Chiguancodrossel ( Turdus chiguanco ) is a songbird from the family of thrushes (Turdidae).
Subspecies
The following subspecies are described:
- T. c. conradi Salvadori & Festa, 1899 - from Ecuador to Peru .
- T. c. chiguanco d'Orbigny & Lafresnaye , 1837 - along the coast of Peru , Bolivia and northern Chile .
- T. c. anthracinus Burmeister , 1842 - from south Bolivia and north-east Chile to west Argentina .
features
The bird measures 27–28 cm and weighs 107 g. The upper side is monochrome olive gray to brown, the underside a little lighter, the beak and legs are yellow. The iris is red to maroon.
Occurrence
The chiguan thrush is a bird of South America and is found in Argentina , Bolivia , Chile , Ecuador, and Peru . He prefers tropical or subtropical bush landscapes, agricultural areas with free-standing trees, bushes and hedges, but also gardens and parks.
behavior
The bird feeds on insects and earthworms, fruits and berries. The breeding season is in December.
Hazardous situation
The Chiguanco thrush is not considered to be endangered ( Least Concern ).
