The Chiloé Point (English, Spanish Punta Chiloé , in Argentina Punta Colastiné ) is a headland at the Graham Coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located at the northeastern end of the Barison Peninsula and on the south bank of Beascochea Bay .
Scientists of the 1st Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1946–1947) named it after the Chilean province of Chiloé . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated this name into English in 1977. Argentine scientists, on the other hand, named it in 1978 after a sea battle in 1821, one of the Argentine civil wars.
