Company history
It was founded in December 1971. For this purpose, a steel mill was built in Kaohsiung, which in 1977 already produced 1.5 million tons of crude steel . From 1977 it was a state company, but was privatized again in 1995. The plant was expanded in 1982, 1988 and 1997 (then 8 million t).
The steel construction company was founded as early as 1978, and a number of other companies in the industry were founded or acquired in succession, such as the Taiwan Machinery Company in 2001 , which is now the headquarters of the group. In the mid-1990s, in the course of privatization, the group was designed in its current form. The largest shareholder of the parent company is still the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA, Chinese 中華民國 經濟 部 ).
As of 2004 there are branches in Malaysia , then also Vietnam , India and China .
The group now has a total of 30 branches (plants and offices), including in Italy and the USA.
In 2017, CSC was the twenty-second largest steel producer in the world .
