China Steel Corporation is headquartered in Kaohsiung

The China Steel Corporation ( CSC ; Chinese  中國鋼鐵公司 ) is the largest steel producer in Taiwan . In 2017, CSC produced 15 million tons of steel. The group is also active internationally in steel and plant construction and the production of aluminum and other materials.

The seat and administrative center is located in Kaohsiung City .

Company history

It was founded in December 1971. For this purpose, a steel mill was built in Kaohsiung, which in 1977 already produced 1.5 million tons of crude steel . From 1977 it was a state company, but was privatized again in 1995. The plant was expanded in 1982, 1988 and 1997 (then 8 million t).

The steel construction company was founded as early as 1978, and a number of other companies in the industry were founded or acquired in succession, such as the Taiwan Machinery Company in 2001 , which is now the headquarters of the group. In the mid-1990s, in the course of privatization, the group was designed in its current form. The largest shareholder of the parent company is still the Ministry of Economic Affairs  (MOEA, Chinese 中華民國 經濟 部 ).

As of 2004 there are branches in Malaysia , then also Vietnam , India and China .

The group now has a total of 30 branches (plants and offices), including in Italy and the USA.

In 2017, CSC was the twenty-second largest steel producer in the world .
