Chinchilla is a heavy metal band from Böblingen , Germany .

history

The band was founded in 1988 by Udo Gerstenmeyer and released the single No Mercy in 1990 . Immediately after the release of this album, the band broke up, but was reunited by Gerstenmeyer in 1994 and it became Who Is Who? produced a second single. They didn't release a full CD until 1998.

In 1997 her debut album Horrorscope was initially only released in Japan, but there via the major label Virgin Music . Only in 1998 did the band find a distribution in Germany with Point Music . While preparing for their debut album, the band got to know Ralf Nöffer, who brought the band to Metal Blade Records , where the second album Madness was released in 2000 . Shortly before that, singer Martin Obermeyer, who previously sang on Letter X , had left, but actually didn't feel like metal even in Chinchilla's time . He signed a contract with Jack White and tried himself as a pop singer. Meanwhile, Chinchilla took Thomas Laasch, who previously sang with Tai Pan and Backwater , as a substitute . This then became a permanent part of the band. The further line-up was changed again and again. The only remaining founding member is Udo Gerstenmeyer.

Between 2000 and 2002 the band supported Vanden Plas as well as Paul Di'Anno and his band Killers .

The Last Millenium followed in 2002 . Then the band went on tour with Demon . In 003 the album Madtropolis followed again via Metal Blade. Fast Eddie Clarke, a guest musician, can be heard on the album . In 2004 the band signed with Armageddon Music , where their last album to date, Take No Prisoners , was released. Stefan Leibing ( Primal Fear ) can be heard on the album . The band then played in the opening act for Saxon and WASP
