Chionanthus palustris is a species of the genus of snow trees ( Chionanthus ) within the family of the Oleaceae (Oleaceae). The specific epithet palustris alludes to swamps, the biotopes in which it mainly occurs.

Vegetative characteristics
Chionanthus palustris grows as a tree and reaches heights of up to 17 meters and trunk diameters of around 15 centimeters. The bark is light brown. The opposite, strongly leathery leaves are elliptical to ovate with a length of 7-14 centimeters and a width of 3-6.5 centimeters.
Generative characteristics
The lateral inflorescences are compressed, elongated and contain two or three pairs of flowers. The hermaphrodite flowers are yellow-greenish and slightly hairy. The sepals are about 1 mm long and divided to the base. The petals are up to 6 mm long. The drupes are 1 to 2 centimeters in size, round and cream-colored.
Occurrence
As the scientific name suggests, the species mainly grows in plains swamps. It is endemic to Borneo and has been recorded for the districts of Kuching , Lawas, Marudi and Sarikei in Sarawak , as well as in Andulau and Badas in Brunei .
