Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is an action game developed by Canadian game developer Torn Banner Studios . It is the successor of the free Half-Life 2 - Modification Age of Chivalry and in the fictional, medieval world "Agatha," in which two factions; the loyal “Agathian Knights” and the insurgent “Mason Order” are in a civil war. It was first published for Windows on October 16, 2012, the German version was published on June 20, 2014. On February 25, 2015 versions for OS X and Linux were published. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions were released on December 1, 2015 in North America and a day later in the rest of the world.
Gameplay
The melee dominates the game and is fought with medieval weapons in the first person or third person perspective . The focus is on siege battles . In two teams with up to 32 players on different maps, the players have to perform different tasks (e.g. ram the castle gate with a battering ram, plunder the enemy camp, etc.) or prevent the opponent from doing so. Unlike in Age of Chivalry , the player does not have nine, but only four classes (archer, armorer, pikeman, knight) at their disposal, but more game variety is achieved through a massively expanded arsenal. Chivalry does not have a single player campaign, but there is an introduction and offline matches against bots are possible.
Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior
On November 14, 2013, Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior was released on Steam. The expansion offers new classes (Samurai, Ninja, Spartans, Pirates and Vikings) and cards.
successor
On June 9, 2019, the direct successor to Chivalry: Medieval Warfare , Chivalry 2 was announced. Chivalry 2 is being developed for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC and should originally be released in 2020. In contrast to its predecessor, Chivalry 2 should support crossplay for all platforms. Chivalry 2 will initially appear exclusively in the Epic Store on the PC, and a year later it will also be available on the other platforms. On August 26, 2020 it was announced that Chivalry 2 would not appear until 2021.
