Chivas Regal is a whiskey brand owned by Chivas Brothers Ltd. , a subsidiary of the Pernod Ricard Group since 2001 . The name is derived from Schivas Castle on the River Ythan in the Scottish province of Aberdeenshire . The company has become known nationwide since it began supplying the royal court of Queen Victoria in Balmoral Castle from 1843 (English regal = royal, majestic).
history
In 1801 the brothers James and John Chivas ( English Chivas Brothers) opened a trading company for whiskey and food in Aberdeen . Distributed internationally since the end of the 19th century, the whiskey is, according to the manufacturer, "the most famous premium whiskey" and the company is the second largest producer of Scotch whiskey .
Chivas Regal is sold in four quality levels, depending on the maturity period, there are 12, 18, 21 and 25 year old products. The 21-year-old whiskey was first put into barrels on June 2, 1953 in honor of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation . The number 21 is not only the year, but also the 21 cannon shots for the coronation, the bottles are made of porcelain and they are available in the colors blue (sapphire), green (emerald) and red (ruby) - all gems of the crown. It is a blended whiskey , mixed from malt and grain whiskey , which has been produced since 1860. The current production site is the Strathisla distillery in Keith / Speyside , which the company acquired in 1995. The sales volume in 2006 was around 35 million liters and in 2012 around 43 million liters. The largest sales market for Chivas Regal is Asia, where over 50% of annual production is sold in the PRC alone .

Chivas Regal Blended Whiskeys have a characteristic house style, characterized by a lovely honey aroma.
- Chivas Regal 12: a blended whiskey with a maturation period of at least 12 years. A soft whiskey with a honey aroma and smooth taste.
- Chivas Regal Gold Signature 18 Year Old: The blended whiskey has a maturation time of at least 18 years. Notes of chocolate and orange, a full, fruity taste with hints of citrus and spices and with a note of sherry at the end.
- Chivas Regal 25 Year Old: Whiskey that is more than 25 years old is used for production. The blend is only available in limited quantities, and each bottle is numbered. It has notes of orange and peach.
- Chivas Regal The Brothers Blend: A blend that was introduced in Travel Value at the end of 2012 .
