Choi Dong-hun (* 1971 in Jeonju ) is a South Korean film director , screenwriter and actor . He is considered a specialist in sophisticated gangster films.

He was trained at the Korean Film Academy and made his first experience in 2000 as an assistant director in the film Tears by Im Sang-soo. In 2003 he played with the same director in A Good Lawyer's Wife as an actor.

His directorial debut The Big Swindle tells in 2004 from the retrospective a bank robbery on the National Bank of Korea in which the gangsters worked against each other and a lot went wrong. The events are revealed like a puzzle.

War of Flower / Tazza: TheHigh Rollers is a 2006 thriller in which a gifted Hwatu card player is cheated out of his savings and tries everything to win his money back. But first he learns all the tricks of the game from a mysterious ex-master player, a so-called "Tazza" Mr. Pyeong (Baek Yoon-sik). Everything comes to a head for the final Hwatu tournament. The film had over six million viewers and was the second most successful of the year in South Korea after The Host .
