Choi Gee-sung (born February 2, 1951 ) is a South Korean manager .

Life

Choi studied economics at Seoul National University . After graduating, Choi started working for Samsung. Choi succeeded Lee Kun-hee at Samsung Electronics in 2009 and became the new CEO in 2010 . In 2011/2012, he was in the public focus of patent litigation with fellow competitor Apple for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet . In June 2012, he was replaced as CEO and Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics by Kwon Oh-hyun and has since been head of the Corporate Strategy Office .

As part of the corruption allegations against South Korean President Park , prosecutors brought charges of bribery and embezzlement against Choi and four other top managers on February 27, 2017 . Choi resigned from his post that same day.
