Life

Choi Seungho studied at Ch'ungch'ŏn National University of Education and after graduating in 1975 worked as a primary school teacher in Kangwon Province . In 1975 he published his first poem, Vivaldi , in the magazine "Moderne Poetik ". When he received the award for his poetry book Snowstorm Warning in the 1980s as the "Prize for Today's Authors", he suddenly became known as a poet. His poems deal critically with modern civilization, often creating images that he takes from nature. Therefore, his works are assigned to ecology .

The best-known collections of poetry by Choi are Snowstorm Warning (1983), The Hedgehog Village (1985), Pleasures of the Secular City (1990), Confessions (1991), Burning Night (1993), Thoughts on Evening Primrose (1995), Safety Zone for Fireflies (1995) and Snowman (1996). The lion with the golden mane , Talma's Silence and The Soft Book are prose works. Who laughed? and The Strange House are picture books. Choi Seung-ho himself divides the 20 years of his lyrical work to date into three phases: the early days, during which he reacted sensitively to reality, the time when he was interested in the inner life of people and the time before and after his preference for Grotesques .
