Mico Nissim

Mico Nissim (born June 20, 1947 in Nice ) is a French jazz pianist and composer .

Live and act

Nissim comes from a family of Sephardic- Greek origin and received classical piano lessons. In 1964 he founded his first jazz band, Les Autres . After successfully completing his engineering degree in Nantes , he taught mathematics from 1970 to 1974, including one year in Ziguinchor , Senegal. He has been a professional musician since 1974. He has worked as a companion for many entertainers ( Sacha Distel , Font et Val, Nilda Fernandez, Marquis de Sade) and also composed for them. Claude Barthélemy brought him to the Orchester National de Jazz as a pianist , to which he was a member from 1989 to 1991. Since 1971 he has recorded several albums under his own name; Touré Kunda were also involved in some cases ( Dunya , 1981). He can also be heard on records by Jacques Mahieux (1974), Aldo Romano , Gérard Marais , Claude Barthélémy ( Jaune et encore ), Didier Malherbe ( Bloom ) and Annick Nozati . In 1999 he founded the Harmonie Le Vent Se Lève with Joël Bara in Cergy . He also wrote film music for Gérard Frot-Coutaz. He also wrote theater music and several chamber music works as well as works for wind orchestra, which were recorded by the Battery Fanfare of the Police nationale ( Musique en 3D ), among others .

Nissim teaches at the Conservatory of Saint-Cloud .
