Laurent Mignard (born June 12, 1965 in Bellot (Seine-et-Marne) ) is a French jazz musician ( trumpet , composition ) and big band leader.

Live and act

Mignard initially received a village music education, attended the conservatory and played cornet in local fanfare and dance music for eleven years . During his studies (1985 Masters in Marketing Management at the Université Paris IX Dauphine ) he discovered jazz and initially played in the traditional le Fou Jazz Band . He took lessons at the CIM, the Institut Art Culture Perception and with François Théberge , Albert Mangelsdorff , David Liebman and François Jeanneau .

In 1998 he presented his debut album, in which he fused the sounds of a jazz trio with those of four cellists. He then founded his Pocket Quartet , with which he performed at the Concours de la Défense in 2002 and received the Prix Revélation at the Jazz à Juan Festival in 2005 . He also founded a big band in 2003 dedicated to the work of Duke Ellington . With her he appeared at numerous, also international festivals, in Cork as well as in Vienne , Beirut or in Coutances at Jazz sous les pommiers . The first album of his Laurent Mignard Duke Orchestra was released in 2009 and was awarded a Grand Prix of the Hot Club de France .

Mignard was brought in as a soloist by Mico Nissim in his sextet ( Ornette - Dolphy, Tribute Consequences , 2009).
