Nicolas Montier

Nicolas Montier (born October 24, 1955 in Paris ) is a French jazz musician ( saxophone , guitar ).

Montier first received piano lessons before switching to the guitar and in 1972 decided on the tenor saxophone , which he learned as an autodidact . Between 1977 and 1983 he was a member of the Grand Orchester du Splendid , but also played with hot jazz groups such as Orphéon Célesta or Irakli (1980). He played mainstream jazz with Electropic , Saxomania ( Django d'Or 1996) and with Jean-Loup Lognon . In 1991 he founded the Trio Colas ; In the 1990s he worked in various big bands, such as that of François Laudet (until 1977), Stan Laferrière, Michel Pastre and the Paris Swing Orchestra . Increasingly, he led his own combos, with which he also recorded; He also combined his trio with the organ grinder Pierre Charial ( Swing de Barbarie ).
