Philippe Milanta

Philippe Milanta (born March 30, 1963 in Marseille ) is a French jazz musician ( piano , composition , arrangement ).

Live and act

Milanta learned to trumpet and piano. Between 1976 and 1987 he played in regional bands in Marseille, from 1984 also with Lionel and Stéphane Belmondo ; occasionally he also accompanied Spanky Wilson and Barney Kessel . He then moved to Paris, where he worked with Gérard Badini , Guy Lafitte (1988–89), Marcel Zanini (1989) and Dany Doriz (1989–1992) and performed with Lew Tabackin , Benny Bailey and Gene Conners ; he also belonged to Ellingtonmania . In 1989 he was on an international tour with his own trio. Between 1991 and 1994 he directed his own nonet; then he was a member of Dan Vernhette's Swing Feeling and the Four Bones . From the turn of the millennium he worked as a pianist in the big bands of Laurent Mignard and François Laudet as well as in the Basic Tenors of Claude Tissendier. He also went on tour with his own Swing Reloaded 5 . He has also recorded with Glenn Ferris , François Biensan and Screamin 'Jay Hawkins . With Élisabeth Caumont and Luca Bonvini he could be heard with an Ellington program at the 2010 Montreux Jazz Festival .
