Choo Chang-min (born 1966 in Daegu , South Korea ) is a South Korean film director . His most successful film is Masquerade with over 12 million moviegoers in South Korea. He received the Daejong Film Prize and the Paeksang Award in the best director category .
Life
Choo Chang-min began his career as an assistant in film-making (1997, 죽이는 이야기 ) and as a script supervisor with City of the Rising Sun (1998, 태양 은 없다 ). He then worked on the script for the black comedy The Happy Funeral Director (2000, 행복한 장의사 ). This was followed by his short film Sawol-ui Kkeut , for which he received numerous film festival invitations.
His historical film Masquerade received the Daejong Film Prize in 15 of 24 categories.
In 2018 he filmed Jeong Yu-jeong's crime novel Seven Years of Night .
