Daejong Film Award

The Daejong Film Award ( Korean 대종상 영화제 , daejongsang yeonghwajae ), also known as the Grand Bell Award , is an annual South Korean award for outstanding domestic films . Until 2018, the prizes were awarded in September or October. However, the date of the award ceremony ends on February, so that there was no awarding ceremony in 2019.

The Daejong Film Prize was introduced by the Ministry of Education on August 15, 1958 as the Korean Film Prize . From the third year onwards, the award was incumbent on the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which changed the name to the Daejong Film Prize and awarded it for the first time in 1962. The 8th and 9th awards took place under the name Korean Art and Culture Prize .
