Kim Myeong-min (born October 8, 1972 in South Korea ) is a South Korean actor .

Life

Kim Myeong-min's career began in 1996 on the SBS Talent show . He became known beyond South Korea through his appearance in the television series The Immortal Lee Soon Shin in 2004.

In the role of maestro Kang Ma-e , he was jointly responsible for triggering Kang Ma-e syndrome in Korean advertising in 2008 (and with many viewers of the Beethoven Virus series ).

He lives in Seoul with his wife and son, who was born in 2004 .

1996-2005

Kim Myeong-min made his acting debut by winning the 6th SBS Public Acting Competition in 1996. He then appeared in various TV series as a supporting actor. He made a name for himself as a leading actor through the film Sorum (2001). After that he played in various film projects, which mostly remained unfinished because of financial problems.

The role of Korean general Lee Soon Shin in the 104-episode TV series The Immortal Lee Soon Shin , which was filmed between 2004 and 2005 , brought the ultimate breakthrough. He was awarded two first prizes for his acting performance.

2006 – now

Since 2006, Kim Myeong-min has won over in various leading roles. For example, he played an ex-gangster in Bad Family , a police officer in Open City - Hunters and Hunted , a surgeon in White Tower and a conductor in Beethoven Virus .

He prepares intensively for the portrayal of his characters; z. For example, for his role as surgeon Jang Joon Hyuk in White Tower , he practiced suturing wounds for several months. In order to be able to convincingly portray the conductor Maestro Kang Gun Woo , he took lessons from a professional conductor 3 times a week for a few months.

In the movie Closer to Heaven ( 내 사랑 내 곁에 ) he played a man suffering from Lou Gehrig Syndrome . In order to be able to show the muscle wasting credibly, he lost 20 kg. Filming began in February 2009 and continued until the end of May. The film was released in Korean cinemas on September 24, 2009 and had more than 2 million viewers in 3 weeks.

In his film Man of Vendetta ( 파괴 된 사나이 ) he plays a pastor whose 5-year-old daughter is kidnapped and pronounced dead. 8 years later he receives a call from the kidnapper that his daughter is still alive. A desperate battle for the child begins. The film was released in Korean theaters on July 1, 2010 and was already sold on the international market before its premiere. Despite the fact that the film is only released for viewers 18 and over, more than a million tickets have been sold in Korea.

The film Detective K: On behalf of the king (조선 명탐정: 각시 투구 꽃 의 비밀) is an action comedy set in 18th century Korea. Myeong-min Kim, in the lead role as the ingenious and bumbling “Detective K”, is on the trail of a series of murders and a high-profile conspiracy on behalf of King Jeongjo. The screenplay is based on the second volume of the Baektappa (백탑파) crime series by Korean author Tak-hwan Kim. The film grossed over $ 32 million in South Korea.

His film Pacemaker is an excursion into the world of the marathon. The film tells the story of the marathon runner Man-ho, who has never finished a race as a pacemaker and has to make a momentous decision at the Olympic Games in London. Some of the filming took place on the original locations of the London Olympics in 2012.

On July 5, 2012, Myeong-min Kim's new film Yeongasi (연가시) (International Title: Deranged ) will be released in Korean cinemas. Here he plays a pharmaceutical agent who takes up the fight against a deadly parasite in order to save his family.
