Marcel Samuel-Rousseau
Marcel Samuel-Rousseau (actually: Marcel Rousseau ; born August 18, 1882 in Paris ; † June 11, 1955 ibid) was a French composer.
Life
Marcel Samuel-Rousseau, son of the composer Samuel Rousseau studied at the Paris Conservatory . In 1905 he won the Second Grand Prix de Rome with the cantata Maia . From 1916 to 1952 he was a professor of harmony at the conservatory. He also worked as an organist at the parish church of Saint-Séverin from 1919 to 1922 and was artistic director at the Paris Opera from 1942 to 1944 . In 1947 Samuel-Rousseau was elected to succeed Reynaldo Hahn in the Académie des Beaux-Arts .
Samuel-Rousseau composed, among other things, several operas, two ballets, orchestral works and a requiem.
