Hwang Jung-min (born September 1, 1970 in Masan , South Korea ) is a South Korean actor .

Life

Hwang received the Blue Dragon Award three times , twice in the category of best actor for You Are My Sunshine (2005) and New World (2013) and once as best young actor for Road Movie (2002). He has been married to musical actress Kim Mi-hye since 2004. The couple has a son. Hwang's younger brother is music director Hwang Sang-joon.

In You Are My Sunshine (2005) he plays a farmer in a small town who falls in love with Eun-ha (played by Jeon Do-yeon ), who recently moved to Seoul . As the film progresses, it turns out that she has AIDS and used to work as a prostitute in Seoul.

He is one of the most successful actors. Between the end of 2014 and the middle of 2016, the films with him in the leading role had a cumulative viewership of more than 50 million in South Korea: Ode to My Father (14.2 million), Veteran (13.4 million), The Himalayas (7.7 Million), A Violent Prosecutor (9.7 million) and The Wailing (6.9 million).

In Ode to My Father he plays an old man whose life tells the story of South Korea through flashbacks, from the Korean War to 2014. In the action-comedy veteran he plays an experienced police officer who the crimes of a chaebol is -Sohnes on the track. In The Himalayas he plays the South Korean climber Um Hong-gil , who climbed all 14 eight-thousanders. The film is about his role as a mentor and how he wants to recover the bodies of his friends who had an accident on Mount Everest and bring them home.
