Christa Berg

Christa Berg (born August 15, 1940 in Cologne ) is a German educational scientist and educational historian . Her research areas include historical research on socialization and the history of teacher training .

After studying to be a teacher (state examination in 1963), Berg completed a doctoral degree in pedagogy, history and philosophy in Cologne, which she received in 1970 with the Dr. phil. completed. From 1974 until her retirement in 2000 she was professor for general pedagogy with a focus on the social history of education at the University of Cologne .

She was a board member of the German Society for Educational Science (DGfE, 1986–1990) and a member of the advisory board of the Historical Commission of the DGfE (1991–1997), co-editor of the Yearbook for Historical Educational Research and the Handbook of German Educational History .

For her services she was honored with an honorary membership of the DGfE in 2000 and with the Ernst Christian Trapp Prize of the DGfE in 2008 .
