Christa Murken

Christa Murken (* 1944 in Mengen ; née Altrogge ) is a German art historian and painter .

Life

Christa Murken was born in Mengen in 1944 as the daughter of the aviation pioneer Werner Altrogge . In 1964 she graduated from high school in Euskirchen with a high school diploma . Between 1965 and 1967 she completed a commercial training in Cologne. From 1967 to 1971 she studied art history, archeology and psychology at the University of Cologne , from which she graduated with a Magister Artium. In 1990, his doctorate at the RWTH Aachen to Dr. phil. with an art historical study of the life and work of the Austrian painter Maria Lassnig . She is married to the art and medical historian Axel Hinrich Murken and has three children.

activities

After working for one and a half years at the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen , Düsseldorf (1971–1972), she began her work as an art writer. Together with Axel Hinrich Murken 1976 founded the Murken-Altrogge publishing house in Münster. In addition to her writing activities, she curated several museum exhibitions, including a. "Children of the 20th Century" (2000). Since 1984 she has also worked as a painter and illustrator and has had numerous exhibitions at home and abroad.
