Christel Lau
Christel Lau (born May 3, 1944 in Marienburg, West Prussia ) is a former German national hockey player .
Career
Christel Lau grew up in Hildesheim and was initially active in athletics . She only switched to hockey at the age of 25. With her club Eintracht Braunschweig , the goalkeeper won six German championships in field and two championship titles in indoor hockey.
For the German national team, Lau played a total of 24 international matches between 1970 and 1977 (14 on the field and 10 in the hall). In 1976 she became world champion in field hockey with the DHB selection , and in 1974 she was third in the world championship . She also won the European indoor hockey championship with the national team in 1975 and 1977 .
In 1974 Christel Lau was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf .
