Christel Richelsen ( December 15, 1845 in Schleswig - May 28, 1902 in Wiesbaden ) was a German theater actor and director .

Life

Richelsen, son of a city official in Schleswig, initially wanted to be a singer and was trained by the cathedral organist of the city of Sikora. When it was already clear that he should go to the conservatory in Leipzig, Richelsen's father suddenly died. Because of the resulting lack of money, he had to refrain from this training. In addition, a nervous fever threw him on the hospital bed, which he found difficult to recover from and which ruined his voice.

In order to still fulfill his dream of the theater, he turned to drama and took up engagement in Kiel, where he worked both in the theater and at the opera. After several positions at several seasonal theaters, he went to the Court and National Theater in Mannheim for several years .

The artist then moved to the Schwerin court theater under the direction of Alfred von Wolzogens for a year before making his debut on May 5, 1871 at the Dresden court stage as "Friedrich von Büry" in Queen of Sixteen . In Dresden he was also appointed senior director.

On April 1, 1891, he gave his stage farewell to devote himself to his literary studies. He died surprisingly on a trip in Wiesbaden. His body was transferred to Dresden and was buried there. Richelsen, who was never married, bequeathed his entire fortune to various associations that support stage actors, e.g. B. also to the Deutsche Bühnengenossenschaft .
