Life

He was the son of Nils Kettilsson (Vasa) and Christina Jonsdotter (Rickebyätten) . Christer Nilsson was first mentioned in 1396 when he was knighted.

He was married twice. The first time with Margareta Johannsdotter (Moltke) , with whom he had the children Kristina Kristiernsdotter (Vasa) and Karl Kristiernsson (Vasa) . His second wife was Margareta Eriksdotter Krummedige (approx. 1426). From this marriage the children Johan Kristiernsson (Vasa) , Birgitta Kristiernsdotter (Vasa) and Nils Kristiernsson (Vasa) emerged.

He was highly favored by Margarethe I and Erik VII. Christer Nilsson was the ruler of an entire administrative district at the time and was able to make far-reaching decisions independently. For King Erik VII he was a great support, both militarily and in the Imperial Council .

Under the rule of King Charles VIII , its influence began to weaken. In the end, this went so far that Charles VIII had Christer Nilsson imprisoned. This probably happened on January 13, 1439. At the same time, Christer Nilsson's entire fortune was confiscated in favor of the Swedish crown. This also included his country estate in Revelsta north of Fjärdhundra in southern Uppland and his castle and administrative district. During the reign of Christopher III. However, he was rehabilitated and the administration of the district of Viborg was entrusted to him.
