Christian-Friedrich Menger

Christian-Friedrich Menger (born November 1, 1915 in Opole ; † January 7, 2007 in Münster ) was a German legal scholar . From 1968 until his retirement he was professor for public law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . His publications on administrative procedural law, general administrative law and constitutional history became particularly important.

Life

Menger studied law in Heidelberg and Göttingen . He received his doctorate in 1940 with a legal history work on the question of the participation of the state in the establishment of associations with legal capacity. He passed his assessor examination in Berlin . After serving in the war and as a prisoner of war , he became a research assistant to Hans Julius Wolff at the Municipal Science Institute of the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. There he completed his habilitation in 1954.

After a first job at what was then the University of Labor, Politics and Economics in Wilhelmshaven , Menger moved to the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer in 1955 and to the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel in 1961 . After the retirement of his teacher Hans-Julius Wolff, he accepted a call to Münster in 1968, where he became the managing director of the Institute for Local Research. Menger was also a part-time judge at various higher administrative courts.

Menger had been a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg since 1961 .
