Christian Arning

Christian Ludwig Arning (born August 31, 1824 in Hamburg ; † January 18, 1909 there ) was a German judge and member of the Hamburg parliament .

Arning was a son of the Hamburg Senator Johann Carl Gottlieb Arning and nephew Nicolaus Ferdinand Haller . Eduard Arning was his nephew. He studied law in Göttingen and established himself as a lawyer in Hamburg in 1847. In 1860 Arning was appointed judge at the lower court. The appeal to judge at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court took place on March 1, 1881. Arning changed to June 1, 1882 as President of the Hamburg Regional Court , where he succeeded Siegfried Albrecht . He headed the regional court for 17½ years before giving up his post in 1899 due to hearing loss. On January 1, 1900, Arning retired and Julius Engel was appointed as his successor .

Arning belonged to Hamburg's citizenship from 1862 to 1868 and 1877 to 1889. There he was a member of the right-wing group.

In the Ohlsdorf cemetery , the regional court of the Althamburg Memorial Cemetery commemorates Christian Arning, among others.
