Hammelmann was already working for various radio stations during this time. In 1991 he became an editorial assistant at Radio Bremen . Soon the focus of his activity was on entertainment with comicals, satirical contributions and street polls . In 1995 he took over the presentation of the weather reports in the regional news magazine buten un binnen . His predictions, presented in sketch form until the end of 2002, were extremely popular and made him known to a wider audience. Five years later he was discovered for the role of detective assistant Karlsen in the Bremen episodes of the crime film series Tatort . Since then he has played regularly at the side of Sabine Postel , who embodied the chief detective Inga Lürsen. Hammelmann has also been working for the ARD morning magazine since 2006 . For his performance in the three-minute short film Gabi and Klaus von Deichfilm he received one of the three rather ideal audience awards on February 8, 2002 at Kino 46 in Bremen as part of the short film competition “Young Collection”. The prize money consisted of the entrance income shared among the artists.

Bremen Vier has also been running check-up interviews with celebrities who visit the city since 1995 and who are only questioned using individual keywords. This form of interview has also been broadcast on Funkhaus Europa since 2008 under the title Hammelmanns Schlaglichter .

In addition, entertainment series and series by and with Hammelmann have been running since the 1990s, including some that have cult status in the broadcast area: Depri-Man, Der Mixer (weekly review), German teacher privately, Listen who does NOT speak there.

Since 2006, the ARD MorgenMagazin has had the rubric every four weeks: The account, in which Hammelmann satirically processed cheekiness, slips of the tongue and other moderations.

In the summer of 2010, he took part in the cooking competition against Ines Redjeb , Eric Langner and Estefania Küster on the VOX television program The Perfect Celebrity Dinner . The episode aired on July 18.
