Christian Baldus

Christian Baldus (born August 17, 1966 in Haan ) is a German legal scholar and professor of civil law and Roman law at the University of Heidelberg .

Life

Christian Baldus studied law in Passau , Pavia (Italy) and Trier from 1986 to 1992 , after which he completed the legal preparatory service in Koblenz from 1994 to 1996 . In 1998 he received his doctorate at the University of Cologne , where he completed his habilitation in civil law and Roman law, European law and comparative law in 2002, supervised by Andreas Wacke .

In 2003 Christian Baldus received the chair for civil law and Roman law at the University of Heidelberg and became director of the Romance Department of the Institute for Historical Law. From 2008 to 2010 he was also dean of the local law faculty. In 2012 he turned down an offer at the University of Passau.

Works

The list of publications by Christian Baldus contains over 200 publications. Among other things, he comments on §§ 985 ff. BGB in the Munich Commentary . He is also the editor of Staudinger on inheritance law.
