Life

Bauer was a son of Pastor Christian Julius Heitzo Bauer. After he lost his father at the age of two, he grew up with his guardian, Pastor Schumacher in Drakenburg, the father's successor in office. From Easter 1801 he attended the cathedral school in Bremen. From Easter 1804 to Easter 1807 he studied theology at the University of Göttingen . On March 27, 1807, he passed Heinrich Philipp Sextro's exam praevium with recognition. From 1807 to 1810, Bauer was a private tutor to the sons of Superintendent Baldenius in Neustadt am Rübenberge . In 1810 he became rector in Stolzenau .

After taking the second exam (1811), Bauer was presented for the pastor's position in Schwarme . In 1821 he was transferred to Wülfinghausen. From 1825 to 1854 he was the first pastor in Elze , from 1829 also superintendent of the newly formed Elze Inspection. In early 1833 he became general superintendent of the General Diocese of Hildesheim and a member of the consistory in Hanover. His official seat remained in Elze at his special request. In 1851, for health reasons, he put down the business of the superintendent and general superintendent, which were taken over by superintendent Busse in Sarstedt.

Bauer was also politically active and became a member of the first chamber of the Estates Assembly of the Kingdom of Hanover . Although belonging to the conservatives, he turned against the repeal of the constitution by King Ernst August. Later he was a member of the second chamber. Here he voted in 1848 against the acceptance of the basic rights adopted by the Frankfurt National Assembly and in 1849 against the Church Council Act and against the free election of clergy.
