Christian Bucher

Christian Bucher (* 1969 in Zug ) is a Swiss drummer in the field of jazz and improvisation music .

Career

Bucher studied musicology , art history and literature at the University of Bern from 1990 to 1992 and music at the Academy of Contemporary Music Zurich from 1992 to 1997 (subject jazz drums with Kevin Austin, Tony Renold, Peter Preibisch; diploma). He also attended workshops with Paul Lovens and Billy Cobham and studied in depth with Pierre Favre , Willy Kotoun , Marcel Bernasconi and Andreas Hermann at the Lucerne School of Music .

He then completed a postgraduate degree in free improvisation with Walter Fähndrich, Peter K. Frey , and Christoph Baumann at the Lucerne School of Music (2002–2003). At the same time, Bucher worked as a drum teacher at the Horw Music School , Emmen and at the St. Michael Zug teacher training college from 2000 to 2005.

Act

He and Guido Egli wrote the music for the two documentaries by Stefan Jäger : From the ground up, I would be a person for life and steps against the wind . Bucher was a co-founder of the jazz trio Nevertheless (with which he also recorded in larger ensembles) and a member of the group 9 artist group .

Bucher performed in a duo with Beat Fehlmann, in the ZurBucher duo and in the Portobello quartet ( Face the Music , 2004). He works in the duo BUG with Andreas Glauser, in the duo with the saxophonist Rick Countryman, in (The) Wow (Trio ) and in the trio Bucher / Tan / Countryman .

Buch recorded several CDs and had international appearances.
