Marcel Bernasconi

Marcel Bernasconi (born June 19, 1940 in Glarus ) is a Swiss jazz pianist .

Life

Bernasconi received classical piano lessons between 1950 and 1958 and briefly attended the Zurich Jazz School in 1959. From 1965 he performed with his own band, to which Beat Kennel and Hans Hartmann belonged, in the Zurich jazz bar "Africana" and from 1966 to 1968 played annually at the Zurich Jazz Festival. He also went on tour in Switzerland, Germany and Belgium. In 1968 he was one of the founders of the Bazillus Club in Zurich. In the next few years he worked in various formations with Hans Kennel , Andreas Vollenweider ( Schlüntz ), Leszek Zadlo , Daniel Bourquin, or Peter Schärli , but increasingly also played solo. He also appeared in a duo with Achim Escher or Robert Morgenthaler .

Since 1974 he has been a lecturer at the Jazz School Lucerne and from 2000 at the Music Academy Lucerne (until 2007).
