Christian Carl Gambs

Christian Carl Gambs (* 1747 ; † 1822 ) was a German theologian and preacher.

He became known as a minister in the embassy at the Christ Church (Paris) because he and his Danish brother Christian August Wilhelm Göricke persevered as the only Christian pastor in Paris during the French Revolution and preached there in German and French. After his expulsion he became a pastor at St. Ansgarii in Bremen . A sketch of these events can be found in Sun for Our Lives .

family

Gambs was the grandfather of the painter Otto Frommel and the theologian Max Frommel and the court preacher and popular writer Emil Frommel , whose son Otto Frommel (1862–1930) was the minister of the legation in Rome .
