Christian Franz (singer)

Christian Franz (* 1968 in Fürstenfeldbruck ) is a German opera singer ( hero tenor ). He is particularly known for his interpretations of roles in Wagner operas.

Life

Christian Franz studied singing with Hanno Blaschke at the University of Music in Munich. In 1991, at the age of 23, he received his first engagements at the State Theaters of Saxony in Radebeul and at the Regensburg Theater . This was followed by three years in the ensemble of the Wuppertal Opera .

In 2001 he made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival . His Wagner repertoire includes Loge , the two Siegfried and Siegmund from the Ring of the Nibelung , the title role from Parsifal and Tristan from Tristan and Isolde . He had his international breakthrough in 2009 in the title role in Wagner's opera Siegfried an der Met .
