Christian Friedrich von Schimonski

Christian Friedrich von Schimonski (born February 6, 1745 in Pomerania , † September 4, 1813 in Glatz ) was royal Prussian major general and most recently the commander of the 16th Silesian Landwehr Infantry Regiment.

Life

Military career

He was born on September 20, 1761 as a Corporal Corporal in the Infantry Regiment. 49 . He also took part in the Seven Years War and became an ensign on February 26, 1762.

On September 14, 1766 he was Second Lieutenant and on October 31, 1770 Premier Lieutenant. As such, he fought in the battle of Jung-Buchau in 1778/79 in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On June 3, 1782 he was promoted to staff captain and on December 31, 1784 captain and company commander. He rose to major on July 19, 1790 and became battalion commander on November 19, 1792. In the First Coalition War he fought in the battle of Kaiserslautern , the cannonade of Valmy , the battle near Kostheim and the sieges of Verdun and Mainz . For Kostheim he received the Pour le Mérite on May 8, 1793 .

On September 12, 1797, he came as a commander in the Infantry Regiment No. 50 . There he became lieutenant colonel on May 20, 1793 and colonel with a patent on June 9, 1800 on May 20, 1800. He still fought in the Fourth Coalition War and was paid half pay from August 10, 1807 after the lost war . Due to his good behavior, he was supposed to be reinstated, but his poor health prevented it. Nevertheless, he was promoted to major general on September 10, 1809. In addition, he received 100 thalers as a gift on September 9, 1810 for his 50th anniversary in the service and on July 15, 1812 another support of 100 thalers. On March 6, 1813 he was appointed commander of the 16th Silesian Landwehr Infantry Regiment, but he died on September 4, 1813 in Glatz.

In the assessment from 1804 it was said: "Talents and noble change make him a perfect officer."

He married Therese Fuhrmann on October 24, 1790 (* August 8, 1763 in Neisse; † October 11, 1812 in Frankenstein in Silesia). The couple had three children who died early:

  • Friedrich Wilhelm (February 15, 1796 - August 10, 1799)
  • Adelheid Charlotte Sophie Luise (August 12, 1798 - July 26, 1799)

General Dietrich Leberecht von Schimonsky was his brother.
