Christian Georg Kohlrausch
Christian Georg Kohlrausch (born April 2, 1851 in Benneckenstein , † December 11, 1934 in Halberstadt ) was a German gymnastics teacher .
Its merit which should be emphasized is the rediscovery of the discus throw . Since the fall of the Olympic Games in antiquity , the disc was only known from statues and drawings. The exact size, mass and throwing technique were not handed down.
In 1880 Christian Georg Kohlrausch a. a. Appointed as a gymnastics teacher at the Magdeburg Convent School Pedagogy for the Convent of Our Dear Women . He worked here until his retirement in 1913 and became known worldwide for his studies and experiments with students on discus throwing published in 1882.
Christian Kohlrausch has (re) developed the discus throwing discipline and made it competitive through many years of studies and experiments with his students . Through his research in 1896, these so-known discipline was of the ancient Olympic Games in the Olympic Games of the modern era are included.
Around 1880/81 he conducted " outdoor games " and thus helped spread football in Germany , which is mainly attributed to Konrad Koch .
