Christian Gottfried Nicolai (born November 19, 1702 in Wiernsheim , † April 16, 1783 in Ötisheim ) was a German Lutheran theologian and author of the Memorabilia Oetisheimensia .

Nicolai was the son of pastor Johann Gottfried Nicolai, whose great-grandfather Melchior Nicolai was. He studied theology in Tübingen at his own expense . He passed his master's degree in 1721. In 1730 he took up a position as vicar in Ötisheim, since he also chose pastor Tobias Ruoff as his successor from his predecessor. Two years later he became assistant pastor and married Christina Elisabetha Ruoff, the daughter of Tobias Ruoff. He had 5 children with her. One of his children, Ernestine Friderica, married Jakob Nikolaus Hesler , a professor in Denkendorf and author of two works , in 1767 . He was married three times in total and had 10 children. From 1734 he took over the entire official business. In 1756, Duke Karl Eugen ordered a dismissal because Nicolai should have reviled the Catholic service, but the consistory in Stuttgart stood behind Nicolai and left him in his position.

In 1784 he wrote the Memorabilia Oetisheimensia (Ötisheim Memories).

Nicolai died of a stroke in Ötisheim at the age of 80.
