Christian Gottfried von Schmidlin

Christian Gottfried Schmidlin , from 1850 by Schmidlin , (born January 2, 1789 in Stuttgart ; † October 4, 1862 ibid) was a Württemberg governor and member of the state parliament.

Life

Christian Gottfried Schmidlin came from an old Württemberg theologian and civil servant family. He was the son of the Stuttgart grammar school rector Johann Christoph Schmidlin (* 1745; † 1800) and Johanna Friederike geb. Hoffmann (* 1756; † 1832). Christian Gottfried Schmidlin had six siblings, including the government councilor Johann Gottlieb Schmidlin (* 1884 † 1862), the interior minister Christoph Friedrich von Schmidlin (* 1780– † 1830) and the state councilor Wilhelm Friedrich von Schmidlin (* 1793– † 1867).

After completing his studies, he was a municipal clerk and then from 1822 to 1824 senior administrator and from 1824 to 1829 senior administrator in Waldsee . From 1829 to 1840 he headed the Oberamt Biberach . In 1840 he became a councilor in the government of the Neckar District in Ludwigsburg, a position he held until retirement. He died of a stomach ailment.

politics

At the age of just 31, he was elected to the Württemberg state parliament for the first time in the Biberach constituency in 1820 . Before the second ordinary Landtag met (December 1, 1823), he resigned from his mandate. Schmidlin was again a member of the Second Chamber of the Württemberg state parliament for the Oberamt Backnang from 1845 to 1848.

Honors

In 1850 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown . This was associated with the Württemberg personal nobility ( ennoblement ).
