Christian Gottlieb Dachselt

Christian Gottlieb Dachselt (born December 16, 1737 in Kamenz , † December 22, 1804 in Dresden ) was a German organist .

Life

Dachselt came to the Dresden court orchestra as a choir student at the age of 12 . After completing his studies there with Johann Christoph Richter , he left the chapel in 1758. In 1768 he became organist at the Dresden orphanage church ; the following year he was also given the office of organist at St. John's Church . In 1785 he succeeded Christian Ehregott Weinlig as organist at the Frauenkirche .

From 1769 Dachselt was also employed as an elector's court emergency man.

He owned an extensive musical library. His estate, bought in 1805, formed the basis of the music department of today's Saxon State Library .
