Nils Berghamn

Nils "Nisse" Berghamn (born January 14, 1933 ; † February 20, 2017 ) was a Swedish football player and coach .

Career

Nils Berghamn started his career at Örgryte IS . He made his debut in the second division for the then record champions at the age of 16. In 1951 he rose with the club in the third division, where he succeeded until 1955. In the year of promotion to the second division Berghamn moved to Jonsereds IF in the fourth division. There he distinguished himself as a regular goalscorer, already in his first year he scored 26 goals this season in 29 games. He was one of the guarantees that the club marched through to the second division in its first two years. As a result, he moved to the Gothenburg first division club GAIS , with whom he was relegated to the second division at the end of the 1959 season. At the beginning of 1961 he returned to Jonsereds IF, which is now playing third class again. From 1965 he began his coaching career with the fourth division club Gerdskens BK as a player-coach.

In 1967 Berghamn returned as a coach to Jonsereds IF, then he went again to Gerdskens BK. After a renewed engagement at Jonsereds IF between 1971 and 1974, where he made a name for himself as a sponsor of young talents such as Torbjörn Nilsson , Kjell Johansson and Thomas Modin , and from the fourth division to the - ultimately unsuccessful - promotion round to the second division IFK Göteborg recruited him . He led the then second division side in 1976 to return to the Allsvenskan , but then went back to the second division side Örgryte IS. 1981 to 1985 he was still active at Ytterby IS in the amateur field.

Between 1964 and 1967 Berghamn had acquired various trainer licenses as part of his trainer training , in 1975 he completed the now reformed trainer training at Svenska Fotbollförbundet with the thesis "Anfallsvapen - mot förstarkkt försvar". In 1973 Berghamn had an offer from the national association to take over responsibility for training and the Swedish U-21 national team . However, he refused to move to Stockholm.
