Christian Gottlob Gerber

Christian Gottlob Gerber (born October 14, 1686 in Rothschönberg , † April 10, 1764 in Lockwitz ) was a German Lutheran theologian and historian.

Life

Born as the son of Christian Gerber , he studied at the University of Leipzig and moved to the University of Wittenberg , where on April 30, 1708 he obtained the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy. In 1710 he became his father's substitute in Lockwitz and after his death in 1731 he took over his position as the palace church pastor, which he filled until the end of his life.

Gerber completed the description of the church ceremonies etc. that his father had begun (Dresden and Leipzig 1732). The last 16 chapters are entirely by him. He is also the author of a local chronicle of Lockwitz. In memory of his work, Gerberstrasse in Lockwitz was named after him.
