Christian Meyer (born December 24, 1968 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

The midfielder Christian Meyer played from 1987 for FC Gütersloh in the third-class Oberliga Westfalen . After the Gütersloher relegated to the association league in 1990 , Meyer moved to the league and district rivals SC Verl . With the losers, Meyer became champions of the Oberliga Westfalen in 1991, but failed in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga at FC Remscheid . Three years later, Meyer and his team qualified for the newly created Regionalliga West / Südwest . As runner-up in the 1994/95 season, the Verler qualified for the German amateur championship , where the team failed in the semifinals at the Stuttgarter Kickers .

Meyer then returned to FC Gütersloh, who had just been promoted to the regional league. With the Güterslohern Meyer managed to march through to the 2nd Bundesliga. In 1999 the club went back down to the regional league before the club had to be dissolved in February 2000 due to bankruptcy . Christian Meyer then returned to SC Verl before ending his career in 2002. Meyer played 95 second division games for FC Gütersloh, scoring 18 goals.
