Christian Papendick (* 1926 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Is a German architect , writer and photographer . He devoted himself to garden and landscape architecture as a freelancer. He lives in Hamburg .

Life

Already in his early youth, Papendick was introduced to painting by Alfred Particle, a painter from the Königsberg Art Academy . Encounters with Richard Birnstengel on the Curonian Spit in 1939 reinforced his desire to become a painter. He took his first photos with an Agfa box.

After the Second World War , his family found themselves in Lüneburg , where Papendick was able to sell his first pictures. When he came to Hamburg to sell the pictures, his desire to become an architect arose in the destroyed city. After an apprenticeship as a bricklayer - due to the war, he was unable to complete his Abitur - he attended the Hamburg University of Fine Arts from 1949 . After he had passed the diploma examination in 1954 , Ernst May accepted him into his office at Neue Heimat . In 1960 he started his own business. Painting has moved into the background in favor of photography. His pictures document the real world and illustrate his books.

Papendick is a nephew of Gertrud Papendick .
