Christian Roselius

Christian Heinrich Roselius (born January 7, 1871 in Bremen , † April 23, 1945 in Bremen) was a German garden and landscape architect .

biography

Roselius was the son of the pedagogue Ludwig Roselius (1833-1901). He graduated from the old grammar school and then trained as an art and commercial gardener . He worked as a garden architect in various places. From 1898 he worked as a freelance garden architect in his hometown of Bremen. Here he designed the outdoor facilities for residential houses and country estates, such as those of Park Gut Hodenberg , Knoops Park and Haus Schwalbenklippe . In the municipal area, he planned various facilities, including for cemeteries in Stade , Bremen-Aumund , Verden , Syke , as well as the Hassel Heidefriedhof near Rotenburg / Wümme (1943) and also the ramparts and the open-air museum on the island in Stade. In 1913 he co-founded the Association of German Garden Architects (today: Association of German Landscape Architects , bdla), which he also led for a number of years. He was also active in other associations for landscape conservation and was a co-founder of the Association for Lower Saxony Ethnicity . He was nature conservation officer for the Osterholz district .
