Christian Samuel Barth

Christian Samuel Barth (born January 11, 1735 in Glauchau , † July 8, 1809 in Copenhagen ) was a German oboist and composer .

Life

Barth was born the son of the businessman George Samuel Barth. He attended the humanistic St. Thomas School in Leipzig while Johann Sebastian Bach was St. Thomas Cantor. He played as oboist in the Rudolstadt court orchestra from 1753, in Weimar from 1762, in Hanover from 1768 and in Kassel from 1772. From 1786 to 1798 he was finally a member of the Copenhagen court orchestra under Johann Gottlieb Naumann . He also composed several pieces.
