Christian Sandrock (also Christel and Christoph, born January 23, 1862 in Rotterdam , Netherlands , † beginning of September 1924 in Bad Kissingen , Lower Franconia ) was a German painter and writer .

Life

Sandrock was the son of the German businessman Eduard Sandrock and the Dutch actress Johanna Simonetta (called Nans) ten Hagen. He grew up with his sisters Wilhelmine Sandrock (1861-1948) and Adele Sandrock (1863-1937) in Rotterdam and Berlin .

Sandrock was a history and portrait painter , wrote novels and plays. His play "Jeanne" was premiered in 1910 in Bad Kissingen with his sister Adele in the leading role.

Then Sandrock came to Bad Kissingen several times for a cure, where he died during a stay at the cure. His grave is in the chapel cemetery in Bad Kissingen.

Arthur Schnitzler may have used it as a model for Charles in his play Das Haus Delorme (1904), which was unpublished during his lifetime .
