Christian Schaffrin

Christian Schaffrin (* 1944) is a German engineering scientist .

Life

Christian Schaffrin studied electrical engineering at the RWTH Aachen (1963-1965), mathematics and physics at the University of Southampton (1965-1966) and communications engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe (1966-1970). In 1975 he became a Dr.-Ing. In Karlsruhe with the thesis "Oxygen vacancy diffusion in BaTiO3 ceramics " . PhD and was at the development center for auto electrics at Robert Bosch GmbH .

In 1983 he received a call on the Chair of Electrical Measurement at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the then University of Applied Sciences Konstanz, today's Hochschule Konstanz (Konstanz HTWG) . He also worked as a lecturer at the Rottenburg Forestry University. He retired in 2009 .

Act

Schaffrin became known nationally and internationally through his research work. In 1987 he developed the world's first solar boat called " Korona ". In 2007, together with Richard Leiner, the PV fuel cell ship “ Solgenia ” followed with a unique propulsion mix of photovoltaics , fuel cells and hydrogen controlled with modern information management .

He is committed to sustainable energy technology at the Center for Applied Research at Universities of Applied Sciences (zafh) in Stuttgart.
